Check fraud and phones

Monday, March 20th, 2023

We recently “tossed” our office desk phones. They were reaching the end of their useful life and with the advent of hybrid work, it became easier for Redside team members to use a mobile app allowing office calls to be forwarded to team member’s cell phones. For those of us who have been around for a while, much like fax machines are now relics, this is the end of an era and creates a little more desk room. So much can be done from those dang cell phones!

Along the same lines, the Seattle Times recently published a NYT article on the rise of check fraud with mailed checks. There is some chance of check fraud, or bank fraud, or employee fraud, or just fraud in general with any transaction. We’ve learned first-hand about many of the ways the article below describes how thieves steal mailed checks and re-cut them for themselves. Redside continues to work with our vendors, residents, clients, and really anyone we work with to establish secure ACH payments–and saving all of us the need to go to the bank!
