Strong January Jobs Report

February 14th, 2012

2012 started in the right direction with the recent Labor Department jobs report showing an increase of nearly 250,000 jobs in January. While this only lowered the unemployment rate by .2 percentage points, every little bit helps. Reports such as this continue to shed positive light on the apartment market and filling vacancies. It’s always interesting to see how a relatively small percentage increase in demand, has real implications on vacancies. The best example we see of this is in September when kids are returning or starting school; you don’t have to have an apartment in the U-District to see increased demand push vacancies down anywhere in the City.
