Upzoning and inadequate supplyFriday, July 17th, 2015

Much of the talk and publicity in today’s fervent market seems be around rising rents, the possibility of some form of rent control and inaquadet supply of housing. The recent housing and affordability committee’s endorsement of increased zoning is another step in an effort to increase supply and density. Something has to give and in looking around the world at other large cities–there’s one simple common denominator. They are more dense. I’m not sure I want a tri-plex next to my house but this is a good start; we’ve worked with David Nieman before (quoted extensively in the Seattle Times attached link), he and the others on this committee are surely considering other models and they develop Seattle’s.
